„Spring N2 Art†at the Keenan House is a perfect opportunity to spend a
Saturday completely surrounded by many forms of art. This exhibition
not only provides a unique promotional and public relations opportunity
for working artists and art organizations, but also allows art lover
the chance to chat with the artists while listening to live music. This
group exhibition features Artists Round Table (ART) members, namely JJ
Casey, Sam Compton, Becky Age, Sandra Carr, Ellin Baskin, Carl
Craighead, Benira Sutphin, Sue Shrader, Melissa Crook, Richard Glover,
Tam Hicks, Pat Stone, Brenda Schwarz Miller together with Columbia
College Art Students.
Spring N2 Art will feature members of the Musicians and Songwriters Guild of S.C., Columbia College Art Students, and local writers Mike Miller and James McCallister. Starting at 11:00 a.m. all visitors will be enterained by the music of Fred Ingram, Dan Bradley,Tom Coolidge, Sharon Von Fange, Chris Compton and Chip Mosteller. Another room will be set up for screening films from SCETV’s “Carolina Stories†series and from the “Southern Lens†series.
The participating artists represent a great variety of syles and media, including painters and sculptors who represent a wide range of media from ceramics to metal and from oil to watercolor. Tam Hick’s collage “Woman’s Work†is a great example of the participating artists’ diversity and social sensitivity. Hick, a lifetime art educator, combines her expertise in photography and collages depicting the uncountable roles modern woman plays in today’s society.
Becky Age’s “Wall Faces†is an example of the three dimensional art exhibited at this group show. The installation, features three individual painted ceramic faces with the artist’s signature technique of combining metal with ceramics.
